10 great websites that could help you to save money
If you’re anything like me you’ll constantly be on the lookout for ways to save money. I hate wasting money and like to research everything I’m planning on buying just to make sure I’m definitely getting the most for my money. In my opinion, there really isn’t anything more annoying than buying something one week only to find it’s on offer the next!
Obviously, there’s not much you can do to stop that kind of thing from happening but you can look online to try and find the biggest savings possible. There are currently loads of websites that you can use to do just this and to help you in your bargain hunt here are ten of them:
1) LivingSocial
LivingSocial is a website that lists thousands of daily deals all over the UK. When you visit the site you’re asked to choose a UK city from a long list and it then shows you deals from loads of different companies and businesses, and you can subscribe to the site to get email updates about offers.
2) Groupon
This site works in a very similar way – it lists offers and deals by city and you can print off the vouchers to go and use them at the selected shops and stores. It’s got everything from money off vouchers for hairdressers to sales for special days out, so you can make treating yourself more affordable.
3) VoucherCodes.co.uk
This site is one I’m always on and before you buy anything you should check this website to see if there’s a voucher code you can use to get a discount. You can even send the vouchers to your iPhone so you don’t have to print off a copy before going to the store.
4) Freecycle
Freecycle is an amazing site I used when my cooker broke down and I didn’t have the money to either replace it or get it fixed. It’s made up of a network of people all over the UK that give away their unwanted items for free, so I managed to get a new cooker without having to pay a penny.
5) uSwitch
Before using uSwitch my electricity bills were sky-high and a quick look on this utility comparison site showed me that I was with one of the most expensive providers. It also lists gas, water, broadband, TV, home phone, mobile and insurance companies that you can compare against your current providers to see if there’s money to be saved and switch to instantly.
6) Money Saving Expert
This site is designed to offer financial help and advice for those living in the UK and it’s packed with loads of useful hints and tips. It’s got all the information you need to help you to save money.
7) Lastminute.com
If you need to find accommodation in a hurry this is the site to go to. It works on the premise that all accommodation providers hate having empty rooms, so they’re willing to list them at cut price rates in order to fill them, which is an opportunity you can’t afford to miss out on!
Wowcher
Running in the same vein as Groupon and LivingSocial, this is another daily deal website that you should check out to help save you money on some excellent days out, meals and clothes shopping trips.
9) Gumtree
Gumtree is a fantastic ad website that people from all over the UK can post on. It’s got ads for absolutely everything, from privately sold houses to unwanted furniture. If you want to get a new sofa for less, chances are there’s someone selling one within your budget on Gumtree.
10) Envirophone
If you’ve got an old mobile you don’t want anymore, instead of storing it under your bed you should sell it on Envirophone. You could get yourself a good amount for it and it’ll be going towards a good cause, as every phone sold to Environphone is recycled or resold.
Do you know of any money-saving websites that aren’t on this list?
